Kanjivaram or Kanchipural sarees are woven in the Southern part of India. The saris are woven from pure mulberry silk threads using rich colors, patterns and zari. These sarees are opulent, rich and colorful and one of the finest weaves of India and known for its quality and craftsmanship, which has helped earn its name. They are distinguished by their wide contrast borders. The patterns and designs in these weaves are inspired with images and scriptures in South Indian temples, mythical creatures, or natural features like leaves, birds and animals.
